Clippers Tie Western Conference Final 1-1 With 10-8 Win

Windsor Clippers evened the Ontario Jr B Lacrosse League Western Conference Final Best Of Five Series vs Elora Mohawks with a hard fought 10-8 win Sunday evening at Forest Glade Arena.

Tied 2-2 after the first period the Clippers had a huge second period outscoring the visitors 6-2.

Clippers jumped out into a 2-0 lead by the 9:21 mark of the first period. Mohawks however would tie the game and this is when the game became more interesting. Goaltender Chase Cosgrove, who has had a monumental season and playoff run, had to leave the game at the end of the period with an injury. He did not return and his status at this time in unknown.

Griffin Salaris came in and did a great job containing the formidable Mohawks team and was named Player Of The Game.

Leading the way for the Clippers was Xander Derkatz with 6 points (4-2). Josh Rosa (1-4) & Calum Brennan (0-5) both had 5 points.

It was an oddly officiated game with the teams taking penalties in bunches. In the first period the Clippers took 6 penalties to 0 for Elora. In the second period Elora took 5 with none from the Clippers & in the third period Windsor took all 3.

Game three goes back to Elora on Saturday July 30 at 7pm with a return engagement in Windsor the following day at 6pm.
